November is considered to be the most depressing month of the year. But not in the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz. On November 13th young people from Poland, Germany and Ukraine came to the IYMC to spend a week together gaining new knowledge and creating social posters.

On October 21st a concert of Adam Makowicz, polish and world-renowned jazz legend, took place at the International Youth Meeting Centre. The artist performed not only his on creations but also played works by Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Benny Fenn, Thelonius Monk and George Gershwin.

„Light in the Darkness”

„Licht in der Dunkelheit”

Young Poles and Ukrainians deal with the difficult history during the theatre-workshop in August. Ten youth from Kirowohrad/ Kropiwnicki (Ukraine) and eight boys and girls from Oświęcim/Auschwitz and Nowy Sącz (Poland) worked with the topics “Auschwitz and the Holocaust” as well as “Human Rights in the Postwar Society” and tried to present their impressions and reflections in the form of a theatrical performance.
