„Lingering – Fragments of Memory“
On the 3rd of November at 6 pm, as part of the 30th Anniversary of the IYMC, the vernissage of the Exhibition “Lingering” of the Swedish artist Mischa Björkroos will take place in the forum of the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oswiecim/Auschwitz.
The Exhibition “Lingering” – Fragments of Memory deals with the history of her father, a former prisoner of KL Auschwitz, and the situation in Poland during World War II which is presented to the visitor through prints, sculptures and documents from the time.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the director of the IYMC Leszek Szuster who gave an insight into the first steps that lead to the realization of this project. The honorary Consul of Denmark, Sweden, Finnland and Iceland Mr. Janusz Kahl also welcomed the audience and the handed over the word to the artist Ms. Mischa Björkroos who shared some information about the history of her father and how this exhibition came about. After the official part the audience walked over to the house of silence and visited the exhibition.
Apart guests from the city of Oswiecim also the members of the groups from the Freizeitladen Winzerla/Jena, Regionale Arbeitsstellen für Bildung, Demokratie und Lebensperspektiven/Hoyerswerdy and from the BDK/Düren from Germany took who were realizing a study trip at the IYMC took part in this event. The whole event was translated into Polish, German and English.
The exhibition will be presented from the 3rd – 30th of November 2016 at the IYMC
