Minister-President of Brandenburg visits the IYMC
On July 6th a delegation led by Dr. Dietmar Woidke, Minister-President of Brandenburg, visited the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz.
The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Werner Köhler, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Krakow, and Andres Hilliger from the Ministry for Education, Youth and Sport of the Brandenburg. The delegation met with the Director of the IYMC Leszek Szuster and were introduced to the activities, plans and challenges of the IYMC connected to the 30th anniversary of the IYMC. The delegation also met up with a group of youths from the Protestant School Neuruppin – a long lasting partner of the IYMC. The pupils presented their work approach during this study trip and gave an outlook on what they wanted to achieve during their stay at the IYMC and the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. The delegation then visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and upon their return to the IYMC met a group of 25 pupils from the Einstein-Gymnasium from Potsdam.
